In the area around Gairloch (Wester Ross) several sites have been identified as crannogs, but it is doubtful if any of them show signs of habitation.

This possible crannog is located on Loch Kernsary, close to Poolewe, but more interestingly, the adjacent structure on the shore poses some questions. It has an unusual oval or boat-shape, with an entrance defined by orthostats.
